Our verdict on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is a public cloud platform for deploying and operating applications and infrastructure. Developers and organizations looking for compute, storage, networking, databases or containers can use it through the web console, APIs and command-line tools. It suits teams seeking infrastructure services rather than a conventional domain registrar or shared website host, so it is not a direct replacement for those GoDaddy services.

The Always Free plan includes always-free cloud resources across compute, storage, networking and database services. A separate 30-day trial is also offered and requires a card; the trial and Always Free resources are distinct. For paid use, Pay As You Go bills for OCI services based on usage, with no minimum commitment stated on the pricing page. OCI pricing depends on the resource and region, rather than a single universal paid entry price, so buyers should evaluate expected resource use before choosing it for ongoing workloads.

OCI covers virtual machine and bare-metal instances, object, block, file and archive storage, virtual cloud networking, and managed Kubernetes through Oracle Kubernetes Engine. Resource Manager supports Terraform-based infrastructure provisioning, alongside web console, REST API and CLI management. Oracle lists phone, ticket, community and documentation support, and compliance coverage including SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA and PCI DSS. Choose OCI when cloud infrastructure breadth and a free tier matter; choose a domain or shared-hosting provider instead when those services are the core requirement.
