Our verdict on OpenBB
OpenBB brings investment data, analytical workflows, and AI into a financial workspace aimed at teams that want to shape their own dashboards. Interactive dashboards, shared apps, an equity screener, and analyst-estimate endpoints give technical teams components for building internal research workflows. An open-source data platform is also available, and Community is positioned for individual use. This is a fit for firms with staff able to connect data and tailor workflows, rather than buyers looking for a standardized research terminal.
Deployment and ecosystem flexibility are central to the choice. Community is a free individual license hosted by OpenBB. Lite costs $2,400 per team per year and is self-hosted on-premises or in a VPC; Pro is a self-hosted team license with custom pricing. Snowflake costs $500 per seat per year and is hosted on Snowflake for firms analyzing data there. Workspace is available on web, Windows, macOS, and Linux, with API and self-hosted options. Microsoft Excel and Snowflake are named integrations. These options suit teams with a preferred infrastructure, but the Lite price is a team license, not a per-user rate.
