Our verdict on Omnis DNS as a Service
Omnis DNS as a Service provides cloud-hosted, globally distributed Anycast DNS for existing domains. It is aimed at individuals, businesses, and larger organizations that want hosted DNS with defined limits for domains, records, and queries. The service includes a web-based management interface, DNSSEC, HTTPS forwarding and proxy records, TSIG-based DNS updates, and AXFR zone transfers. It can be purchased for external domains or included with Omnis hosting, managed servers, and domain registration.
The plan structure separates capacity rather than introducing a different core feature set. DNS Starter supports 5 domain names, 250 records per domain, and 5 million queries per month. DNS Business keeps the 5-domain allowance, raises the record limit to 1,000 per domain, and allows 25 million queries per month. DNS Pro supports 25 domain names and 25 million monthly queries, with 250 records per domain. All three plans list DNSSEC, HTTPS forwarding and proxy records, TSIG keys, and AXFR zone transfers. This makes the choice primarily about domain count and capacity.
Omnis fits teams comfortable managing DNS through the web and using standard hosted-DNS capabilities, with email, chat, and phone support channels. Its feature set is focused on authoritative DNS hosting and related record operations rather than broader traffic-management workflows. Teams that need API-driven provisioning, health-check failover, traffic steering, or secondary-DNS workflows should choose a service built around those controls instead. For small teams managing a limited number of domains, the defined tiers and security features provide a straightforward fit.
