Our verdict on OmniPlan
OmniPlan is project planning software for building and tracking interactive Gantt charts. It is designed for project managers, business professionals, educators, freelancers, and teams handling projects of varying complexity. Core planning capabilities include task dependencies, milestone tasks, automatic schedule creation, resource assignments, critical-path highlighting, baseline comparisons, cost tracking, reporting, and multi-project dashboards. Its focus is detailed scheduling rather than lightweight task lists, making it a strong fit for Apple users who need structured project control.
Pricing is available through perpetual licenses or an annual subscription. The v4 Standard License costs $199.99 one time and includes ownership of OmniPlan 4 forever, all 4.x updates, and access on Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro. The v4 Pro License costs $399.99 one time and includes the same listed device access and 4.x updates. The Annual Subscription costs $199.99 per year, includes access to the latest Pro version, and avoids a separate major-version upgrade cost. A 14-day trial is available, and perpetual licenses include a 30-day return guarantee; subscriptions are not refundable.
For teams working across planning systems, OmniPlan connects with iCloud Drive, Box, Git, WebDAV, Microsoft Project, and iCalendar. Its resource view, workload-oriented planning capabilities, multiple baselines, and Monte Carlo simulation give complex schedules more analytical depth than a basic Gantt tool. The trade-off is platform scope: the listed access is centered on Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro, so organizations needing broad cross-platform availability should consider another option. Choose OmniPlan for advanced scheduling within the Apple ecosystem; avoid it if a free plan or non-Apple desktop support is essential.
