Our verdict on Omni Browser

Omni Browser is an experimental, open-source Android web browser from RebelRoot, built on Mozilla's GeckoView rendering engine. It is aimed at Android users who want private browsing controls, Firefox-compatible extensions, media tools, and browser synchronization in one mobile application. The Free plan includes the GPLv3-licensed browser, Android access, and signed APK releases. Its feature set extends beyond basic page viewing with incognito sessions, ad and tracker blocking, translation, PDF export, QR scanning, and developer console tools.

Its ecosystem fit is strongest for people already using Firefox services. Firefox Account synchronization can carry bookmarks, history, passwords, and tabs, while Firefox WebExtension support connects the browser to Mozilla Add-ons. Google Translate provides the translation integration. That combination gives Omni a familiar path for users invested in Mozilla's browser ecosystem, although the product remains focused on Android rather than serving users who need a browser across desktop and mobile platforms.

The standout privacy feature is its biometric AES-256 encrypted private vault, paired with isolated private sessions and built-in blocking for ads, trackers, and telemetry. Media stream detection, downloading, and a built-in player also make it more capable than a narrowly focused privacy browser. Android users seeking an open-source browser with a broad toolset should consider Omni Browser; users who require broader platform coverage or prefer software positioned beyond an experimental project should choose an alternative.
