Odoo Expenses review
A low-cost, open-source-friendly expense workflow for organizations already using Odoo.

Odoo Expenses brings expense entry, receipt capture, approval, accounting, and reimbursement into the Odoo suite. It suits organizations that want employees to submit expenses manually, upload or email receipts, or digitize them with OCR. Managers can review, approve, or refuse expense reports, while accounting teams can post approved claims, reconcile them, and reimburse employees through payroll, bank, cash, or check. Mileage, per-diem categories, and customer reinvoicing extend the workflow beyond basic receipt collection.
Pricing is structured around access to the wider Odoo platform. One App Free includes one app, unlimited users, and Odoo Online. Standard adds all apps on Odoo Online, while Custom adds all apps plus Odoo Online, Odoo.sh, on-premise deployment, Odoo Studio, and multi-company support. The regular starting price shown for the category is 31.10. For organizations already aligned with Odoo Accounting, Employees, Documents, or Payroll, the connected suite can reduce the need to move expense information between separate systems. Open-source availability and self-hosted deployment in the Custom plan also give technical teams more control over deployment choices.
The main trade-off is scope and approval depth. The free option is useful for keeping expense processing within a single Odoo app, but teams needing the broader suite may need Standard or Custom. Verified approval workflows are single-level, so organizations requiring multi-step expense authorization should look for a more layered approval model. Odoo supports web, Android, iOS, API, and self-hosted access, although its documentation identifies the iOS app as subject to deprecation. Choose Odoo Expenses for an Odoo-centered, cost-conscious workflow; consider an alternative if advanced approval hierarchies or a stable iOS-first experience are priorities.
