Our verdict on ObservabilityOS

ObservabilityOS is an observability platform for software engineering teams that need anomaly detection across logs, metrics, and traces. It ingests structured logs and OpenTelemetry data, applies statistical and machine-learning detection, and supports real-time rolling Z-scores for error and latency anomalies. Local PII redaction, dashboards, full-text search, incident collaboration, webhook alerts, GitHub deployment correlation, and API or CSV export make it suited to small engineering teams that want monitoring and incident workflows in one product.

The published plans show a free Free Developer tier and a Pro Cloud plan at $29 per month, billed monthly. Free Developer includes log search, saved queries, CSV/JSON export, a PII-redacting TypeScript SDK with OTLP support, anomaly detection, auto-incident creation, team alerts, and AI root-cause analysis and post-mortems. The pricing table lists 500MB and 1 service for that tier. Pro Cloud adds AI-powered anomaly detection, incident management with threaded comments and runbooks, and the same Slack, Discord, and Microsoft Teams alert options; its pricing table lists 10GB and 30-day retention. A Self-Host Source-Available option supports unlimited services, logs, and retention, Docker or Compose deployment, and AI analysis with bring-your-own keys.

Platform fit is a notable strength. Integrations cover Node.js, Next.js, Express.js, Docker, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Redis, OpenTelemetry, Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams, and GitHub, while the API supports OpenTelemetry HTTP/JSON ingestion and log export. That gives teams several ways to connect application telemetry, deployments, and incident communication. Choose ObservabilityOS if you want hybrid anomaly detection, local PII redaction, and incident workflows with either hosted or self-hosted deployment. Teams seeking a larger free allowance may find the Free Developer limits restrictive, while organizations requiring definitively open-source software should evaluate the source-available model carefully.
