Nutanix Objects is software-defined object storage for enterprises running Nutanix infrastructure. It provides an S3-compatible REST API and a single global namespace for unstructured data, supporting backup, archiving, cloud-native applications, big-data analytics, and DevOps workloads. Objects can run on existing or dedicated Nutanix clusters and scale from terabytes to petabytes. It is best suited to organizations that want private S3 storage within a Nutanix-based hybrid cloud environment.

Its feature set centers on data management and protection. Object versioning helps retain prior versions, while lifecycle management supports policy-based handling of stored data. Multipart uploads support larger transfer workflows, and WORM-based object immutability addresses retention requirements. Data-at-rest encryption with native key management, plus identity and access management, adds control over stored data and access permissions. These capabilities make Objects a focused fit for backup, archival, and application workloads that need more than basic bucket storage.

Replication is another important strength, with cross-region and geo-distributed options for distributing objects across locations. The single global namespace provides a unified view of unstructured data across the environment. According to the vendor's pricing information, licensing is capacity-based, while purchasing requires contacting sales. The 2 TiB capacity associated with AOS editions is not presented as a standalone free plan. Nutanix Objects should appeal to teams already operating Nutanix infrastructure and seeking private S3-compatible storage with governance and replication features; organizations wanting a standalone service with straightforward public pricing should look elsewhere.
