Our verdict on NOC Authoritative DNS
NOC Authoritative DNS is a hosted authoritative DNS service for website operators and organizations that need independent domain-zone management, routing controls, and automated failover. It separates DNS administration from the registrar through custom nameservers and provides a NOC dashboard for configuration. The service fits small, mid-market, and enterprise organizations, with web and API access for teams that want either dashboard-based management or programmatic administration.
According to the published plans, Pay As You Go costs $5 per site per month with monthly billing. This plan includes Host DNS alongside CDN performance, WAF security, and Monitoring, positioning the price as access to the broader NOC platform rather than a DNS-only tier. A 14-day free trial is available without a card requirement. The Partners plan is an API-powered platform for hosts, agencies, and service integrators. Support channels include email, chat, and documentation, while the cloud deployment model keeps the service focused on hosted DNS operations.
The standout feature set is resilience and traffic control: Anycast hosting, health checks, automatic DNS failover, smart routing, advanced traffic steering, and DNSSEC support are combined with REST API management and automatic record import. That makes NOC Authoritative DNS a practical choice for organizations that want managed DNS with routing automation and a straightforward platform entry point. It is less suitable for buyers seeking a narrowly priced DNS-only service or a broader, more specialized managed DNS portfolio. Choose it when automated failover and integration with NOC’s CDN, WAF, and monitoring capabilities matter; consider an alternative when those surrounding services are not part of the requirement.
