Our verdict on NetScanTools Pro

NetScanTools Pro is a Windows-based suite for network diagnostics, internet research, and IT security work. It is aimed at network engineers, IT help desks, security analysts, field technicians, managed service providers, and consultants who need more than basic ping and traceroute utilities. The feature set spans active and passive discovery, DNS analysis, IP/MAC tracking, port and SMB scanning, SNMP queries, packet capture and generation, Whois, SMTP testing, SSL certificate scanning, and network information utilities. It is available as an installed desktop download and as a portable USB edition.

Pricing is organized into Quick Start, Standard, and Premium tiers. Quick Start costs $299 for a Single License, $549 for a Small Team, or $1,295 for a Medium Sized Team, with full access, self-service signup, email support, and a 30-day maintenance plan. Standard costs $599, $1,049, or $2,499 for those same license groupings and adds guided onboarding, a Managed Switch Port Mapping Tool license, priority email and phone support, and one year of maintenance. Premium costs $999 for a Single License or $1,899 for a Small Team, adding desktop and USB editions, live onboarding, one-hour team training, and two years of maintenance. A 14-day demo is available.

Its main advantage is coverage: DNS verification and delegation tracing sit alongside graphical traceroute, tree-format routing maps, TCP and UDP scanning, packet capture and generation, ARP scanning, passive discovery, SNMP, SMB, Whois, SMTP, and SSL tools. The trade-off is a focused Windows desktop workflow rather than a command-line or cross-platform tool. WinPcap or Npcap is needed for some packet-level features. Choose NetScanTools Pro when broad GUI diagnostics justify a one-time license; choose another option if you need macOS, Linux, command-line access, or a free plan.
