Nero BackItUp is paid backup software for Windows PCs, with an Android app for backing up mobile data over Wi-Fi. It is aimed at people who want to protect files on computers and Android devices without limiting destinations to local storage. Windows backups can go to external hard drives, USB drives, optical media, NAS systems, OneDrive, or Google Drive. The Android app supports photos, videos, music, contacts, call logs, SMS, and MMS, and can send that data to a phone or computer over Wi-Fi.

Its strongest fit is flexible file protection. Backups can run daily, weekly, or monthly, while continuous backup covers newly updated files. File version management provides access to earlier versions, and compression can reduce storage use. AES 256-bit hardware-accelerated encryption adds protection for backed-up files. One-click restoration keeps the recovery workflow focused on retrieving files rather than managing complex recovery environments. OneDrive, Google Drive, and NAS support also gives users several ways to align backup storage with their existing setup.

The main trade-off is its narrow file-focused scope. Nero BackItUp is well suited to personal Windows and Android data, but it is not designed around server backup or ransomware-specific protection. Its platform coverage is also limited to Windows and Android, so it is not a fit for households or teams seeking one backup product across additional operating systems. Choose it for scheduled or continuous file backup, versioning, local and cloud destinations, and Android data protection. Consider an alternative if full-system recovery, server coverage, or specialized ransomware defenses are central requirements.
