Migadu review
A flexible custom-domain host with unlimited mailboxes, but tight entry-tier message limits.

Migadu is email hosting for organizations, agencies, families, freelancers, startups, nonprofits, and individuals using custom domains. It combines webmail with SMTP, IMAP4, and POP3 access, and prices accounts rather than individual users or mailboxes. The service includes unlimited addresses and mailboxes, aliases, forwarding, catchalls, DNS setup and monitoring, mailbox backups, and restoration. Calendar and contact synchronization are available through CalDAV and CardDAV, while access is supported across web, desktop platforms, mobile platforms, and an API.
The plan structure suits domains that need more than a basic mailbox service, but the allowances change significantly by tier. Micro costs $19 per account annually and provides 5 GB of storage, 200 incoming messages per day, and 20 outgoing messages per day; monthly billing is unavailable on this plan. Mini costs $9 per account monthly with 30 GB of storage, 1,000 incoming messages per day, and 100 outgoing messages per day. Standard raises storage to 100 GB and the daily limits to 3,000 incoming and 500 outgoing messages for $29 monthly. Maxi costs $99 monthly, includes 500 GB, supports 10,000 incoming and 2,000 outgoing messages per day, and adds priority support 24x7.
Platform fit is a central strength. Users can connect Apple Mail, Outlook, Gmail, Thunderbird, Mutt, Spark, The Bat!, or ImapSync, while SIEVE filtering through ManageSieve supports rule-based mailbox management. The API covers domain, mailbox, and alias administration, which is useful for organizations managing multiple addresses. Mobile access is documented through third-party clients rather than native Migadu apps. Migadu is a strong choice for domains that value unlimited mailbox counts, standard protocols, migration support, and administrative control. Organizations needing higher message allowances or larger storage should consider Mini, Standard, or Maxi rather than the annual-only Micro tier.
