Our verdict on MIDI Oracle

MIDI Oracle is a REAPER plugin for generating and editing MIDI through plain-language instructions. It is aimed at REAPER users who want to shape material in the timeline without leaving their project context: the plugin reads tracks, instruments, tempo, selections and existing MIDI, then can create notes or edit timing, lengths, velocities, ranges and overlaps. Its scope also includes cleanup, humanization, transposition and arrangement work. That makes it a fit for solo producers and small teams already working in REAPER, rather than musicians looking for a standalone melody generator or a general-purpose plugin for another DAW.

The editions build from MIDI generation and editing in Muse ($19.99) to additional workflow and arrangement tools. Oracle ($39.99) adds a saved instruction library and history, loop detection, pooled ghost items and multi-track generation. Orchestrator ($69.99) adds multiple articulations per track, marker and region awareness, plus Azure OpenAI and Claude CLI support. The vendor describes these as launch prices and says they will increase after launch. A three-day trial is available, but the licence does not include AI usage: buyers need a supported provider account and API key, and that provider bills separately. OpenAI, Anthropic Claude API and OpenRouter are among the supported options.

Project awareness and follow-up refinement are central to the product: instructions can be applied in context, and edits can be undone. Higher editions add controls for reusable instructions, articulations and multi-track work, which may matter to users composing more structured arrangements. The trade-off is a deliberately narrow platform fit: MIDI Oracle runs on Windows inside REAPER, and it is not a standalone application or VST/AU plugin. Choose it if you already compose in REAPER and are comfortable managing a separate AI-provider account. Look elsewhere if you need macOS support, an independent app, or a workflow outside REAPER.
