Our verdict on Meitu
Meitu is an AI-driven photo and video editor for consumers and content creators. Its feature set covers portrait retouching, filters, collages, GIF creation, templates, background removal, object and watermark removal, text replacement, image enhancement, upscaling, and image expansion. It is available on web, Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android, making it a practical choice for people who move between mobile and desktop editing. Desktop support for PSD and RAW files also gives it relevance for more advanced image workflows.
The product’s strongest angle is breadth. AI tools address both corrective work, such as removing objects and watermarks, and creative work, such as replacing text, expanding images, creating cutouts, and applying portrait adjustments. Batch resizing, format conversion, watermarking, and editing extend that coverage to repeated production tasks. This combination suits content creators and teams handling varied image outputs, especially when broad platform access matters more than a narrowly focused specialist workflow.
Meitu uses a freemium model. The Free plan includes a photo and video editing app, with in-app purchases available. Meitu SVIP plans add premium editing and AI features through one-month, monthly auto-renewing, and yearly auto-renewing options. Buyers who need paid AI capabilities should review renewal settings carefully, while users seeking a free editor should expect the free experience to include in-app purchasing. Meitu is a strong fit for broad AI cleanup, portrait work, and batch operations across devices; an open-source editor is a better choice for teams that require open-source software.
