Our verdict on Megal Publisher

Megal Publisher is a browser-based desktop-publishing application for creating flyers, brochures, newsletters, cards and other multi-page publications. It is aimed at individuals and teams that need editable page layouts, print preparation and file export through a web platform. Its layout tools handle positioned text, images, shapes and tables, while supported Microsoft Publisher files can be imported as editable objects. Master pages and saved editable MPUB projects suit recurring publication work.

Pricing is structured around a useful free entry point and low-cost Professional plans. The Free plan allows users to create and edit publications, open supported Publisher files and save editable Megal projects, but Print Preview is watermarked. Professional Monthly costs £5.99 per month, while Professional Yearly costs £59.99 per year; both add actual printing, PDF creation, export and download, plus 1,000 monthly AI credits. Optional AI credit plans range from £5 per month for Megal AI Basic to £90 per month for Megal AI Pro, with annual options shown for Basic and Plus.

Megal’s strongest fit is prepress-oriented publishing in the browser. PDF 1.7 and guarded PDF/X-4/PDF/X-1a export, SVG and raster image export, design, accessibility and proofing checkers, advisory preflight, CMYK, ICC output-intent and supported spot-colour workflows give print-focused users more control than a basic page-layout tool. Comments and comment resolution provide a focused collaboration layer, while optional AI tools cover images, text and templates. Choose Megal Publisher if web access, editable Publisher-file migration and print checks matter; choose an alternative if native desktop applications or broader collaboration are priorities.
