MATPOWER is a free, open-source package of MATLAB-language functions and classes for simulating and optimizing steady-state power systems. It is aimed at power-system researchers and engineers who provide case data and run analyses through MATLAB or Octave. Its scope is technical grid modeling, not a hosted energy-monitoring service, so it suits analysis workflows rather than teams seeking a managed dashboard for energy operations.
The core covers power-flow analysis, continuation power flow, and AC and DC optimal power flow.
