Our verdict on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a single-player action game for PlayStation 5, suited to players who want a superhero adventure centered on Peter Parker and Miles Morales. You can switch between the two Spider-Men as they explore Marvel’s New York and face villains including Venom, Kraven the Hunter, and the Lizard. Its focus is a solo story rather than shared or competitive play, so it fits players looking for an individual action experience more than those seeking multiplayer modes.
Traversal and character distinction are central to the game’s appeal. Web-swinging and Web Wings provide ways to move through Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, while the two heroes have distinct abilities and gear. That gives the adventure multiple playable perspectives without changing its single-player format. Accessibility options include adjustable difficulty and skippable puzzles, which let players tailor parts of the challenge and move past puzzles when preferred.
According to the PlayStation Store listing, the Standard Edition costs $69.99 USD as a one-time purchase and includes the full game. The $79.99 USD one-time Digital Deluxe Edition also includes the full game, five suits for Peter and five for Miles, additional Photo Mode items, 5 Skill Points, and early unlock suits and gadget. The Deluxe additions are cosmetic items and unlock-related extras rather than another play mode. Choose the Standard Edition if the full solo adventure is the priority; consider Deluxe for its listed extras. Players who require co-op or cross-play should look elsewhere, since this is single-player only.
