Our verdict on Malwarebytes Privacy VPN
Malwarebytes Privacy VPN encrypts internet traffic and lets subscribers select virtual server locations. It is aimed at people who want a familiar VPN service across Windows, macOS, iOS and Android, with a limited free option for trying the service on Windows or Android. For users in Iran, the main distinction is fit: its published capabilities emphasize VPN privacy and server controls rather than a specific censorship-circumvention feature. That makes it a weaker choice when bypassing network restrictions is the primary requirement.
Privacy controls are a notable part of the offering. The service uses WireGuard and 256-bit ChaCha20, and Malwarebytes states that it has a no-logs policy. Diskless servers run in RAM, while Blind Operator controls govern infrastructure access. Subscribers can choose virtual server locations; the network is described as 153 servers across 62 locations. A kill switch setting is available in desktop apps. These features may suit people seeking a general-purpose VPN with defined infrastructure safeguards, but they do not by themselves establish a fit for censorship circumvention.
The free option has a clear trade-off: after 10 GB of data, speed is reduced and fewer server locations are available. It is documented for Windows and Android, while VPN access is also offered through apps for macOS and iOS. The service's support channels include documentation and community resources. Solo users and small organizations looking for a general VPN with a limited no-cost option may find the scope relevant; users whose priority is reliable access through censorship restrictions in Iran should consider a service specifically suited to that need. The desktop-only scope of the stated kill switch is another consideration for people choosing between devices.
