MailPoet review
A WordPress-focused email tool with strong WooCommerce automation and flexible sending options.

MailPoet is a self-hosted WordPress email marketing plugin for bloggers, small businesses, publishers, and WooCommerce stores. It brings newsletter creation, scheduling, subscription forms, automated welcome emails, and automatic new-post notifications into the WordPress dashboard. Lists can use dynamic segmentation based on behavioral and interest data, while WooCommerce users can create ecommerce-related messages and automations. Drag-and-drop templates and engagement statistics support regular publishing without moving the core workflow outside WordPress.
The published plans show a freemium structure. Starter includes up to 500 subscribers, up to 5,000 emails per month, subscription forms, basic marketing automation, summarized engagement statistics, and the MailPoet Sending Service. Business adds unlimited monthly emails, subscriber segmentation, targeted automation, detailed engagement and ecommerce statistics, priority support, and the sending service. Agency includes Business features for up to 50 websites, with the subscriber limit applied per MailPoet instance. Creator provides Business-level features while allowing a host or third-party sending service instead of MailPoet’s own service. Paid pricing varies by subscriber list size.
MailPoet’s main advantage is its WordPress and WooCommerce fit. It connects with WooCommerce, Memberships, Bookings, Subscriptions, AutomateWoo, Google Analytics, and MailChimp imports, while also supporting SendGrid, Amazon SES, and SMTP providers. That makes it suitable for publishers and stores that want content notifications, customer messaging, and ecommerce automation in one WordPress-centered system. It is less suitable for teams seeking a platform-independent email suite, a generous small-list allowance on the entry tier, or a sending-service-inclusive Creator plan. Choose it for WordPress-led publishing and commerce workflows; consider alternatives when those constraints outweigh dashboard integration.
