Our verdict on MagentaTV

MagentaTV is Telekom’s internet-based television and streaming service, combining live channels, on-demand films and series, and live sports. It suits viewers who want a substantial live lineup alongside streaming services in a shared interface, rather than juggling separate apps for every viewing task. It can be used with or without Telekom internet on supported televisions, streaming devices, phones, tablets and web browsers. Its mix of live TV and partner access makes it a broad entertainment option, not a service focused solely on one genre.

MagentaTV Flex costs €11 per month, billed monthly, and has no minimum term, so subscribers can cancel monthly. The plan includes MagentaTV+ and 180+ TV channels, with 160+ in HD. Product information also specifies up to 100 hours of cloud recording on Flex and up to three simultaneous streams. The published monthly price is for Flex; additional TV and sports packages can be added to the base service. That structure is suited to viewers who value an ongoing monthly option over committing to a longer term, while the paid-only entry point will not suit someone looking for a free service.

The service’s standout practical distinction is the combination of viewing controls and partner discovery. Timeshift lets viewers pause and resume live programming; selected programs can be restarted or replayed for up to seven days. Cross-service search and a voice assistant support discovery, while Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, DAZN, WOW and RTL+ are accessible through the shared interface. Recordings are retained for 90 days, subject to stated licensing exceptions. Choose MagentaTV if a large live lineup, recording and integrated streaming access matter together; consider another option if you need free access or guaranteed replay for every program.
