Our verdict on LibreVault

LibreVault is an open-source Android app for hiding, previewing, restoring, and managing private images and videos. It is aimed at Android users who want a free, privacy-focused alternative to basic photo-hiding tools. Media can be imported into the vault, previewed in the app, restored to its original location, or deleted from the vault. Encryption and decryption take place locally on the device, keeping the product focused on private media storage rather than cloud synchronization.

Its privacy architecture is the main reason to consider it. LibreVault uses an encryption key protected by Android Keystore and supports biometric app locking, while a configurable lock timeout adds control over when access protection resumes. The combination suits users who prioritize local storage and open-source software. Distribution as an APK through GitHub releases also fits users comfortable installing Android applications outside a conventional app-store workflow.
