LedgerSMB is an open-source, web-based ERP and accounting application for small and mid-size businesses. For gyms that need more than basic income and expense tracking, it combines double-entry general ledger accounting with quotations, orders, invoices, payment tracking, purchasing, vendor management, inventory, fixed assets, budgeting, reporting, time tracking, multiple currencies, and cash management. Its web, Linux, API, and self-hosted platforms make it a fit for organizations that want control over deployment and accounting workflows.

The accounting breadth is its clearest strength. LedgerSMB supports journal entries, receivables and payables, cash management, receipt tracking, and bank reconciliation. Bank statement imports use CAMT.053, OFX, and CSV formats. Fixed-asset accounting covers depreciation and disposal, while budgets can be organized by project or department with variance reports. For a gym group or operator managing equipment, vendors, departments, and multiple companies, these capabilities provide a more complete financial foundation than a narrow invoicing tool. Multi-currency transactions and payments extend that scope for businesses working across currencies.

Deployment is the main consideration. LedgerSMB is designed for self-hosted installation and can be installed using packages, Docker, or the project’s installer, so the organization must account for its own hosting and administration responsibilities.
