Our verdict on LaunchDarkly Experimentation
LaunchDarkly Experimentation is designed for engineering, product, and data teams measuring the impact of released features, models, prompts, and agents. Experiments run through feature flags or AgentControl configurations, so experimentation fits within LaunchDarkly’s feature-delivery workflow. It supports web, iOS, Android, and API use cases, with feature flag management, variation assignment, audience targeting, and segmentation by cohort, device, geography, or other attributes.
Pricing starts with the Developer plan, which is free forever, includes unlimited seats and unlimited feature flags, and provides 100K experimentation MAU per month. It also includes A/B tests and experiments. Foundation is usage-based at $8.33 per 1,000 client-side MAU per month when billed annually, with a 14-day trial before pay-as-you-go billing. That tier adds unlimited projects and environments and includes experimentation. Enterprise uses custom pricing and adds advanced user targeting, custom roles and teams, workflows, scheduling, and approvals. The structure suits teams that want to begin without a paid commitment, while larger organizations should assess how usage and governance needs affect the total cost.
The product’s strongest fit is for teams already organizing releases around feature flags and needing more than basic split testing. Multi-armed bandits, holdout groups, mutually exclusive experiments, Bayesian and frequentist analysis, and warehouse-native experimentation cover a wide range of measurement needs. Results can use LaunchDarkly-hosted metrics or external warehouse data, with exports to Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, and Databricks. It is less suitable for teams seeking a visual editor or a narrowly focused no-code testing workflow. Choose it for flag-based experimentation across web, mobile, server-side, and data environments; consider an alternative if visual page editing is central.
