Kiln is a desktop AI development and evaluation workbench for engineers, data scientists, product managers, QA teams, and subject-matter experts. It combines dataset management, evaluation, synthetic-data generation, retrieval-augmented generation workflows, prompt optimization, agent tools, and collaboration. The source-available desktop app runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, while its open-source Python library supports deploying tasks. Local project storage and Git-based synchronization suit teams that want datasets and evaluations to remain close to their development workflow.
The freemium structure starts with an Individual plan that includes the open-source Python library, desktop app, local datasets with Git sync, Kiln Pro with standard models and rate limits, and community support. Team adds enhanced models and higher limits, automatic agent optimization, priority access to new features, and email support. Enterprise adds SSO / SAML, annual contracts and procurement support, an SLA, priority support, a dedicated solutions engineer, and custom onboarding and training.
