Our verdict on Karve

Karve is a native Windows API client for developers who keep REST requests in plain .http or .rest files. It brings files from multiple repositories into one workspace without moving them, executes requests, and presents responses with JSON, raw body, headers, timing, and resolved request details. Per-file .env switching, drag-and-drop file handling, tabs with session restoration, and searchable local history suit individual developers working in Git-based repositories. Karve does not require an account or cloud workspace.

The paid plan is straightforward: the Karve license costs $39.99 USD as a one-time purchase. It includes Windows 10/11 support, v1.x updates, and a 15-day free trial, with no subscription. The value is concentrated in the file-based workflow rather than a broad API development suite. Developers who want to keep requests close to their repositories get workspace organization, global search across requests, files, and history, plus persistent local request and response records. The built-in MCP server also connects Karve with AI agents.

Its ecosystem fit is strongest for Git workflows and tools including Claude Code, Claude Desktop, VS Code, and Cursor. That makes Karve a practical choice for solo Windows developers whose work centers on REST requests stored as files. It is a weaker fit for teams needing shared workspaces, for API documentation workflows, or for projects using GraphQL, gRPC, or WebSocket APIs. Automated request chains are also outside its scope, so developers needing broader protocol coverage or collaborative API tooling should choose a different category fit.
