Our verdict on JobRunr

JobRunr is a Java and JVM library for persistent background processing. It is designed for development teams that need to enqueue fire-and-forget work, schedule delayed or recurring jobs, and process tasks across multiple application instances. Job data can be stored in an existing SQL or NoSQL database, while automatic retries, configurable retry policies, and a built-in dashboard support recovery and monitoring. Official integrations cover Spring Boot, Micronaut, and Quarkus, making it a focused option for Java application job processing.

The OSS plan is free under the LGPL 3.0 license and includes job enqueueing and scheduling, automatic retry handling, a built-in dashboard, carbon-aware job scheduling, and community support. The Business plan adds an enhanced dashboard, transaction plugin, priority queues, workflow management, and priority email/helpdesk support. It costs €850 per production cluster per month or €9000 per production cluster per year. Enterprise includes unlimited production clusters, unlimited recurring jobs, a multicluster dashboard, Kubernetes autoscaling metrics, custom procurement support, and priority feature requests.
