Our verdict on JBA Risk Management

JBA Risk Management provides flood maps, risk data, catastrophe models and analysis services for insurers, reinsurers, financial institutions, property businesses and public organisations. Its strongest fit is insurance teams assessing flood exposure and reinsurance or portfolio risk, particularly at mid-market and enterprise scale. The portfolio also addresses parametric insurance, climate risk and crop risk, with cloud deployment and browser, API and map-service access.

The analytics cover global probabilistic flood models for present-day and future climate scenarios, with flood extents and depths across multiple return periods. Portfolio outputs include Average Annual Loss, Exceedance Probability curves and Year Loss Tables, supporting reinsurance pricing, capital assessment, accumulation control and portfolio management. JBA Vision provides browser-based visualization and location-specific risk queries; API access delivers flood depths, scores and pricing data, while WMTS streams risk layers into GIS and mapping tools. Additional model coverage includes an India multi-peril crop model using physical crop simulation and a combined US wind and flood model. Buyers seeking a focused flood and catastrophe modeling capability have a broad set of analytical outputs, while organizations primarily seeking general-purpose insurance analytics may find the specialization less aligned.

Access is available through JBA Vision, API services, WMTS and integrations with ELEMENTS by Impact Forecasting, Moody’s Intelligent Risk Platform, Verisk Model Exchange and Oasis. The vendor also offers consultancy engagements, so the product is better understood as a portfolio of models, data and services than as a single self-serve subscription. Pricing is contact-sales, making direct evaluation with the vendor part of procurement. Email and phone are listed support channels. Choose JBA when flood hazard, climate scenarios and reinsurance portfolio analysis are central requirements; consider alternatives if a published tiered subscription or broader analytics focus is essential.
