Our verdict on Jamstix

Jamstix is a virtual drummer plugin for musicians arranging drum performances in a DAW. Rule-based style and drummer models generate grooves, while a real-time fill generator and part-based arranger shape sections and transitions. Its event editor and performance controls make it a fit for solo musicians and small teams who want to guide a drum performance in detail rather than simply choose a loop. It is a Windows desktop plugin in VST and AAX formats, with a limited free version and paid editions.

The paid lineup uses one-time USD prices, with plans adding different combinations of styles, drummers, kits and expansions. Jamstix 4 Standard costs $99 and includes 70 styles, 17 drummers and 1.3 GB of samples. XL is $129 with 65 acoustic, electronic and hybrid kits and 2.5 GB.
