Intrado VIPER handles 9-1-1 and administrative calls for public safety answering points. It is aimed at agencies that need an on-premises call-handling system for legacy or NG9-1-1 environments, with local control and survivability. Its scope is call infrastructure rather than the full public safety workflow: it does not provide dispatch management, records management, or mobile field access. Agencies looking for those capabilities alongside call handling will need another product or system for them.

The call-handling feature set spans IP-based emergency voice, video, and data, plus text-to-9-1-1 integration and PSAP-initiated text. Mapping and location integration, automatic abandoned-call callback, and SIPREC support address additional call workflows. Local redundancy and failover are documented capabilities, relevant to PSAPs planning for continuity at the call-handling layer.
