Our verdict on Infomaniak Public Cloud

Infomaniak Public Cloud is an infrastructure-as-a-service platform for organizations developing and hosting applications. It combines virtual cloud instances, GPU instances, replicated block storage, object storage, networking, load balancers, Kubernetes and managed MySQL. Teams can deploy Linux, Windows or custom instance images through Infomaniak’s interfaces and APIs. Its Swiss base and European focus make it a fit for organizations seeking managed cloud services with an OpenStack ecosystem.

Pricing is metered rather than organized around conventional fixed instance plans. The MySQL Essential plan provides one MySQL node, starting at 1 vCPU and 4 GB RAM with 80 GB of disk space, and has no SLA. MySQL Business adds a second node, Multi-AZ deployment and a 99.9% SLA, with starting resources of 1 vCPU and 4 GB RAM per node. MySQL Advanced uses three MySQL nodes with Multi-AZ deployment and a 99.9% SLA, also starting at 1 vCPU and 4 GB RAM per node. The CHF 0.03 hourly starting price applies to MySQL Essential; instance pricing depends on configuration, and prices exclude VAT.

The platform’s strongest fit is for teams that want more than basic virtual machines: it offers general-purpose, memory-optimised, IOPS-optimised and GPU instances, Ceph-backed replicated NVMe block storage, S3-compatible Swift object storage, private networks, floating IP networking and Octavia load balancers. Terraform, Kubernetes and S3-compatible APIs support integration with established workflows. Managed Kubernetes, vertical and horizontal autoscaling, and DDoS protection extend the platform for application operations. Organizations needing a wider regional footprint or a simple fixed-plan model may prefer a different cloud provider.
