Our verdict on Infoblox Universal DDI

Infoblox Universal DDI is a cloud-managed suite for centralizing DNS, DHCP and IP address management across on-premises infrastructure, public clouds and external DNS services. It is aimed at enterprise NetOps, CloudOps and SecOps teams managing distributed hybrid and multicloud networks. The product combines a centralized control plane and API with policy-based IPAM, centralized NIOS management, role-based administrative domain management, asset discovery and cross-environment visibility. Web, API and self-hosted platforms support different operating models.

Its strongest fit is a mixed environment spanning AWS Route 53, Azure DNS, Google Cloud DNS, Cloudflare and Akamai, alongside Microsoft DNS and AWS VPC IPAM. Terraform providers and Ansible modules support infrastructure-as-code workflows, while the Cloud Data Connector streams DNS and DHCP events to SIEM, SOAR and data lakes. These integrations make Universal DDI relevant where teams need consistent address management, cloud DNS administration and operational visibility across multiple control points rather than isolated provider consoles.

According to the vendor’s pricing model, Universal DDI uses utilization-based tokens and directs buyers to contact sales. The published positioning centers on DDI management, so organizations primarily seeking DNS, DHCP and IPAM control should consider it a strong match. Teams that require a broader network platform centered on VPN or firewall policy management should look for an alternative with those capabilities as its main focus. Universal DDI is best suited to organizations that can benefit from centralized governance, automation and discovery across complex hybrid and multicloud estates.
