iCloud Drive stores files and folders in the cloud and synchronizes them across devices using the same Apple Account. It is aimed at people who primarily use Apple hardware but also need access through Windows or a browser. Files are available in the Files app on iPhone and iPad, Finder on macOS, File Explorer on Windows, and iCloud.com. Mac users can also synchronize Desktop and Documents folders, while shared iCloud Drive folders support collaboration and access across devices.

The freemium structure starts with iCloud Free and 5 GB of storage. Paid iCloud+ plans provide 50 GB, 200 GB, 2 TB, 6 TB, or 12 TB. The 50 GB plan adds iCloud Private Relay, Hide My Email, and Custom Email Domain. The 200 GB and 2 TB plans support Family Sharing for up to five other family members. Storage is billed monthly, with pricing varying by region. This range suits individual users and households that need more capacity without leaving Apple's account and device ecosystem.

iCloud Drive also includes recovery of deleted files within 30 days and optional Advanced Data Protection end-to-end encryption for iCloud Drive. Availability and sharing behavior for that protection can vary by region and configuration. Its main limitation is scope: the published feature set does not include verified versioning or business administration. Choose it for Apple-centered file access, device synchronization, shared folders, and household storage. Organizations needing administrative controls or broader platform coverage should consider another cloud storage service.
