IBM Instana Observability is a full-stack application performance monitoring platform for DevOps, SRE, and engineering teams. It automatically discovers and instruments applications and infrastructure, then connects service visibility with distributed tracing, dependency mapping, logs, infrastructure monitoring, websites, and mobile applications. Teams can use it through SaaS or self-hosted deployment, making it suitable for enterprises that need observability across hybrid environments and control over deployment choices.
Its strongest technical focus is connected investigation across distributed systems. Instana traces transactions across application services, databases, browsers, and mobile apps, while dynamic topology maps dependencies and log collection correlates logs with traces and metrics. Transaction profiling, unbounded analytics, tag-based filtering, real user monitoring, and root-cause analysis extend the platform from detection into incident investigation.
