Our verdict on Hyperscore
Hyperscore is a browser-based music composition app for learners, educators and others who want to create music through visual editing rather than relying on extensive music theory knowledge. Composers develop melodic motives in a Melody Window, create multi-track percussion patterns, then arrange motive-based lines in a Sketch Window. A Harmony Line shapes the piece, while controls for time signatures, grid detail, snapping, tempo and line volume support further adjustments. Its approach suits beginners exploring musical ideas and classrooms introducing composition; it is less suited to people whose main need is conventional notation editing.
The central strength is the way Hyperscore organizes composition around motives, percussion and harmony in separate visual tools. It supports polyphonic melodies and chords, and users can share scores and participate in community features. The product runs in a browser and offers cloud score access. Export is tier-dependent: Basic includes MP3 export and MIDI output, while Premium and Supreme include MP3 and MIDI export. The vendor describes MIDI as a way to move music into other software that can produce standard notation, so Hyperscore’s visual workflow should not be mistaken for direct standard-notation interchange; MusicXML support is listed as false.
Hyperscore is freemium, with Starter, Basic, Premium, Supreme and Hyperscore Classroom tiers. Premium is listed at $8 per month with annual billing and adds all instrument sets and themes alongside MP3 and MIDI export. Supreme is $12 per month with annual billing and adds unlimited scores. Classroom includes cloud score access, unlimited scores, classroom groups and student management, curricular resources and personalized technical support; the Classroom pricing page gives differing availability terms, so institutions should check eligibility directly. Choose Hyperscore for accessible, browser-based motive composition and sharing. Choose another tool if your workflow depends on standard notation interchange or conventional score-and-parts features.
