Our verdict on Hookdeck Outpost

Hookdeck Outpost is outbound webhook and event-delivery infrastructure for SaaS, API, and platform teams. It routes events to webhooks, queues, brokers, and cloud event services while separating tenants and their delivery workflows. Core capabilities include topics, subscriptions, fan-out, destination-level filtering, automatic retries, manual retries, event replay, webhook signatures, secret rotation, delivery inspection, and a tenant user portal. Teams can run it as Apache 2.0 open-source software or use the managed Hookdeck service across web, API, and self-hosted deployments.

The pricing structure covers distinct operating models. The self-hosted edition is always free, works on every cloud, has minimal dependencies, and includes community support. Managed Starter costs $10 per million events, with the first 50,000 events free, uncapped throughput, unlimited seats, 7-day retention, SOC 2 compliance, and OpenTelemetry. Growth costs $499 per month and adds a 99.99% uptime SLA, 30-day retention, read-only user roles, SSO, SAML, SCIM, and multi-region support. Enterprise adds custom retention, premium support, custom security and compliance, and custom contracts. Retries are not charged.

Outpost fits teams that need event infrastructure rather than a narrow webhook relay. Its integration set includes Hookdeck Event Gateway, Amazon EventBridge, AWS S3, AWS SQS, AWS Kinesis, GCP Pub/Sub, Azure Service Bus, RabbitMQ, and Apache Kafka. OpenTelemetry metrics and traces support operational visibility, while signatures and secret rotation address delivery controls. Choose Outpost when tenant isolation, routing, retries, replay, and deployment flexibility are central requirements. Teams with straightforward, single-destination delivery may find its multi-tenant and broker-oriented scope larger than necessary, especially once managed Growth pricing becomes relevant.
