Our verdict on HookBytes

HookBytes is webhook management software for developers and application teams that need to receive, store, forward, and monitor webhook events. It supports dynamic endpoint creation, HMAC and shared-secret authentication, custom routing rules and headers, project-based organization, and asynchronous queue-based processing. Teams can choose a managed cloud service or deploy the open-source Laravel webhook gateway themselves. It is a strong fit for open-source teams that want control over deployment and source code, as well as application teams that need structured event delivery workflows.

The product’s event-handling depth is its clearest strength. Configurable retries with exponential backoff help manage failed deliveries, while a dead-letter queue provides a separate path for events that do not complete successfully. Event search, filtering, inspection, payload and delivery logging, and replay support investigation and recovery workflows. REST API and CLI tools extend administrative access beyond the primary interface, and custom routing rules can direct events to configured destinations with specific headers. These capabilities make HookBytes more suitable for teams managing operational webhook flows than for users who only need a basic endpoint receiver.

HookBytes uses a freemium structure with three plans. Open Source includes unlimited webhooks, full source code access, community support, and the MIT License for self-hosted use. Cloud Starter adds managed hosting, real-time monitoring, advanced retry logic, email and Slack alerts, API rate limiting, and standard support. Enterprise adds unlimited webhooks, multi-region deployments, custom integrations, advanced observability, a dedicated support team, and on-premise options. Choose HookBytes for queue-based processing, event recovery, and deployment flexibility; consider another option if your team does not want a Laravel self-hosted application or needs multi-region and custom integration capabilities without the Enterprise plan.
