Our verdict on H2O-3
H2O-3 is a free, Apache 2.0-licensed, in-memory machine learning platform for data scientists, ML engineers, and researchers. It supports supervised and unsupervised algorithms, automated machine learning with automatic model training and tuning, model evaluation metrics, and scoring workflows. Teams can work through Python, R, Java, Scala, REST APIs, or the browser-based H2O Flow interface, while self-hosted deployment keeps infrastructure configuration with the user.
Its strongest fit is breadth across the machine learning workflow. H2O-3 can ingest data from local and remote files, S3, HDFS, JDBC, and Hive, then expose cluster, model, prediction, and metadata operations through its REST API. Python and R client libraries, along with integrations for pandas, scikit-learn, and Jupyter, support code-based workflows. Model performance metrics and evaluation graphs add visibility into results, while binary model export provides a deployment-oriented scoring path.
