Our verdict on Griffin

Griffin is a UK-regulated Banking-as-a-Service platform for fintechs, platforms and companies building financial products. Its API-first infrastructure covers embedded customer bank accounts, UK domestic Faster Payments, safeguarding, client money accounts, savings and embedded accounts. The platform is available through web and API interfaces, with support for organizations primarily based in the UK or entering the UK market. Griffin also supports businesses operating across Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man, the European Union, the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Australia, Singapore, the United States and Malaysia.

Pricing is structured for different levels of adoption. Business bank accounts cost £100 per month and include operational accounts, with interest or commission from 1.75%. Platform banking onboarding costs £15,000 one time and includes complete onboarding support with a stated go-live period of 6–8 weeks. Monthly platform packages cost £3,500, £5,000 or £10,000 and cover accounts, payments and onboarding. The Enterprise plan is a custom package. Griffin also combines these charges with transaction usage, so the lower entry price is distinct from the cost of a full platform-banking deployment.

For product teams, the strongest fit is a UK banking proposition that needs managed or API-based onboarding, automated KYC, AML and fraud checks, account balances, transaction records and a sandbox environment for API testing. Safeguarding and client money capabilities add support for regulated financial workflows. Griffin is less suitable for a product that requires card issuing, which is not an available feature. Choose it when embedded accounts and UK payment infrastructure are the priority; consider an alternative when cards are a core part of the planned product or when the monthly platform packages do not match the budget.
