Our verdict on GpDNS

GpDNS is a carrier-grade DNS product role from GxDNS for international roaming and inter-operator connectivity. It is designed for mobile network operators, roaming teams, NOC teams and telecom infrastructure engineers operating 3G, 4G and 5G environments. The product resolves roaming APNs, EPC gateways and approved inter-PLMN service endpoints across GRX and IPX networks. It also separates roaming DNS from subscriber and packet-core DNS, keeping this operational scope distinct from other DNS functions.

Its strongest fit is controlled forwarding and upstream selection. GpDNS supports per-domain forwarding zones, provider-specific routing, DNS-based health checks, and priority, weight, timeout and retry policies. When an approved upstream becomes unavailable, automatic failover and recovery can operate across provider pools, with controlled failure rather than public DNS fallback. Multi-node and multi-site deployment extends the design to distributed telecom infrastructure, while the admin API and structured JSON automation support integration with operational systems.

Operational control is another clear focus. CLI-based monitoring, configuration validation and rollback are paired with metrics, alarms, audit and backup workflows. Pricing is handled through contact sales, so the commercial decision depends on the deployment and operating context rather than a published self-serve tier structure. GpDNS suits organizations that need a self-hosted roaming DNS gateway with policy-driven failover and telecom-specific separation. Teams seeking a conventional hosted DNS record failover service, or a general-purpose authoritative DNS platform, should choose a product aligned with those requirements instead.
