Our verdict on Google SecOps SOAR

Security teams looking to coordinate alert investigation and response can use Google SecOps SOAR within Google Security Operations packages. It ingests and normalizes alerts from third-party tools, groups them into cases, and extracts entities such as indicators of compromise, IP addresses, and user accounts. Playbooks run ordered actions when predefined conditions are met; actions can be manual or automatic. The product is cloud-based, with web and API access, and fits mid-market and enterprise teams already considering Google SecOps.

The published packages add capabilities by tier. Standard includes base SIEM and SOAR capabilities, 300+ SOAR integrations, 12 months of hot data retention, and one environment with a remote agent. Enterprise includes Standard features and adds unlimited environments with a remote agent, UEBA, Google-curated detections, and Gemini in security operations. Enterprise Plus includes Enterprise features, then adds applied threat intelligence, advanced data filtering, redaction, transformations and routing, plus BigQuery UDM storage. Packages are quote-based and priced by ingestion, so buyers should compare the complete SIEM-and-SOAR package rather than expect a standalone SOAR price.

Its distinguishing workflow depth is the link between normalized alerts, case management, entity extraction, conditional playbooks, and remote operations such as firewall blocking or disabling accounts. Google Threat Intelligence, Mandiant, and VirusTotal are named integrations, while a Python SDK supports custom connectors. The playbook builder is code-first, which will suit teams comfortable defining workflows that way but may not suit buyers seeking a visual builder. Choose it when those response workflows and Google SecOps package capabilities align; teams seeking a standalone SOAR product or a visual-first builder should compare alternatives.
