Where it wins
- One-click renewals last 48 hours, 7 days or 14 days
- Full console and FTP access, with Paper, Forge, Fabric and Bedrock
- No hard player limit, and no ads injected into the game
Where it doesn't
- All free plans were out of stock, so new users queue for a slot
- Free RAM is a shared 24 GB pool, not a dedicated allocation
- The terms allow free servers to be deleted at any time, even if renewed
Our verdict on FreeMCHost
FreeMCHost, run by a French sole trader in Paris, offers three free plans with full console and FTP access, Paper by default, support for Forge, Fabric and Quilt, and a Bedrock server type, with Geyser and Floodgate available for crossplay. There is no hard player limit, ads appear on the website and panel rather than in the game, and sign-up needs no credit card.
Resources on the free plans are shared: each lists 24 GB of pooled RAM and 0.75 to 1.5 shared vCPUs, with 448 MB to 1 GB of dedicated storage, one manual backup slot and no automatic backups. Servers are renewed from the dashboard for 48 hours, 7 days or 14 days at a time, and linking Discord lengthens the window. When every free plan is taken, as it was on the day of checking, new users join a queue or buy a one-time Skip the Queue pass for €0.55 to €0.99. Paid Free+ plans start at €0.59 a month for 2 GB of storage and remove the queue and the short renewals, though no sale is refundable.
Light modpacks can run on free, but FreeMCHost recommends at least 4 GB of RAM for big packs such as RLCraft, which shared free resources can't promise. The terms reserve the right to delete a free server at any time, even one renewed on time, so keep your own world downloads. It suits patient tinkerers who want FTP on a free server; anyone who needs a server today, or a promise that it will survive, should pick another host.
