Our verdict on Firecamp

Firecamp is an open-source API development platform for developers and teams that need to build, test, debug, and document APIs. It provides dedicated workspaces for REST, GraphQL, WebSocket, and Socket.IO workflows, with API collections, scripts, variables, automated testing, documentation publishing, and collaboration tools. It runs on the web and desktop across macOS, Windows, and Linux, making it suitable for distributed teams working across different environments.

The Free plan is the main reason to consider Firecamp. It includes up to 5 seats, API Playgrounds, API Collaboration, unlimited workspaces, unlimited API Collections, and Community Support. Collections can save, organize, share, import, and export requests, while team and personal workspaces help separate shared work from individual exploration. The Team plan adds capacity for up to 15 seats, priority 24/7 support, and team management resources; its published monthly billing is $59. Enterprise is a custom plan with contact-sales access. Choose Firecamp when a no-cost collaborative workspace covers the team’s needs, or when paid support and management resources justify the Team tier.

Its strongest functional area is protocol breadth beyond basic REST requests. The GraphQL playground supports query exploration and schema documentation, while WebSocket workspaces cover connections, message exchange, event logs, and message collections. Pre-request and test scripts, an automated API test runner, reusable dynamic variables, and API documentation publishing extend the workflow from exploration into repeatable validation and sharing. Postman collection integration can also help teams bring existing collections into the workspace. Firecamp is less suitable for teams that require gRPC coverage or a clearly defined enterprise package without contacting sales.
