Exaba Object Storage review
Low-cost S3 storage with strong retention and replication features for infrastructure operators.

Exaba Object Storage is software-defined, S3-compatible object storage that service providers run on their own hardware. It is aimed at managed service providers, cloud providers, and data-center operators supporting backup, archive, long-term retention, and other S3 applications. Production deployments run on Linux across x86_64, ARM, or Power systems, while Docker is intended for evaluation. The product also suits small, mid-market, and enterprise organizations that need control over storage infrastructure.
Pricing is centered on two plans. Pay-as-you-grow costs $2 per TB per month and includes $0 data egress, $0 API calls, onboarding and support, and scaling through Exaba SmartScale. Exaba Commit adds discounts based on one-, three-, and five-year commitments while retaining $0 data egress, $0 API calls, onboarding and support, and SmartScale. The commitment plan's pricing depends on the selected term. There is no free plan, so buyers should budget for paid deployment from the outset.
The feature set focuses on storage control, retention, and service-provider operations. Its S3-compatible REST API, web console, and REST management APIs support integration with Veeam, Commvault, Acronis, rclone, ConnectWise, and Autotask. Object Lock offers Compliance and Governance modes, while versioning, erasure coding across drives and nodes, encryption in transit and at rest, built-in KMS, and cross-cluster or cross-region replication address durability and data-protection needs. Multi-tenant isolation and white-labeling fit provider environments. Organizations that require lifecycle rules should choose an alternative, while infrastructure operators seeking private S3 storage with replication and immutability should consider Exaba.
