Our verdict on EWA English
EWA English is a freemium language-learning app centered on English and several other languages. It suits learners who prefer short lessons, media-based practice, reading, and repeated vocabulary review over a single-format course. Content is organized by level and topic, with speaking courses built around movie and television scenes, everyday dialogues, bilingual books and audiobooks, flashcards, educational games, progress tracking, and leaderboards. It is available on web, iOS, Android, and macOS, with free content alongside subscription access to the full catalog.
The media focus is EWA English's clearest differentiator. Learners can practice speaking through scenes, work through dialogues for everyday situations, and read with word translation available in bilingual books and audiobooks. Flashcards and spaced-repetition review add a more structured way to revisit vocabulary, while lessons can be selected by difficulty or topic. This combination makes the app a good fit for English learners who want varied content and a clear emphasis on exposure, speaking topics, and review rather than only grammar exercises.
Pricing follows a freemium model. The available subscription options are One-Month Subscription, Six-Month Subscription, and One-Year Subscription, with a starting price of 11.99 and a 3-day trial. Subscription products may vary by storefront, while the free plan provides access to free content rather than the full course and feature catalog. EWA English is a sensible choice for learners who want video-led lessons, translated reading, and spaced review across four platforms. Learners seeking a wider language catalog should consider an app offering more than five languages.
