A self-hosted Windows mail server with perpetual licenses starting at $259.

EVO Mail Server is an on-premises email and groupware server for Windows teams that want to host and administer their own mail service. It handles SMTP transfer and IMAP4 or POP3 mailbox access, with support for multiple domains, forwarding, archiving and backup. Its account synchronization with LDAP and Active Directory makes it relevant to organizations that already manage identities through those directories. The vendor lists fit across small, mid-market and enterprise organizations, but the self-hosted Windows requirement is central to whether it makes sense for a team.
The published plans show two perpetual-license options, both with commercial use, unlimited accounts and POP3/IMAP4/SMTP. Standard costs $259 one time and includes email support. Prime costs $299 one time, adds priority email support, and includes CalDAV/CardDAV for contacts, calendars and tasks. This makes the choice straightforward for teams: pay more for the collaboration protocols and priority support, or choose Standard for core mail service. The homepage describes a free trial, but no trial duration is stated.
The feature set extends beyond mail delivery: EVO lists archiving of incoming and outgoing messages, per-account backups, migration from POP3 or IMAP servers, real-time protocol monitoring and detailed message logs. Filtering includes Spamhaus, SPF, DKIM, DMARC and greylisting, while TLS covers inbound and outbound mail. Integrations include OpenLDAP, Microsoft Active Directory, Roundcube, ESET NOD32 Antivirus, OpenAI API and Ollama. This breadth may suit administrators consolidating mail and related services on a Windows host. Teams that need another operating system, or prefer a service rather than operating an on-premises server, should consider alternatives; support is listed by email, with priority email on Prime.
