Our verdict on DOMINUS
DOMINUS is open-source software for domain investors and portfolio owners who need structured analysis before buying, managing, or repricing domains. It combines heuristic valuation, expired-domain research, trademark checks, portfolio tracking, candidate pipelines, reporting, analytics, a CLI, a REST API, and a React dashboard. The product is available through web and API interfaces, with the Community edition designed for self-hosted use.
The free DOMINUS Community plan costs €0 forever and includes the AGPL v3 license, self-hosting, the full scoring engine, portfolio tracking, CLI access, and the REST API. Its valuation workflow estimates market value, buy ceiling, and list price, while expired-domain analysis considers age, backlinks, and Wayback history. The portfolio tools add renewal clocks and keep, drop, or reprice recommendations. DOMINUS Cloud adds managed hosting, multi-tenant support, managed PostgreSQL, automated backups, team accounts, and priority support. Separate commercial options cover a single production deployment, proprietary embedding or SaaS rights, named developers with unlimited instances, and embedding in third-party products.
The strongest fit is for investors who value transparent, extensible tooling and want to connect analysis with an ongoing portfolio process. Candidate discovery can use DNS pre-filtering and RDAP confirmation, while integrations include rdap.org, USPTO, EUIPO, and NameBio. The CLI covers portfolio, registrar, reporting, analytics, and scheduling commands, giving technical users several ways to operate the system. Registrar support is manual/no-op by default, so buyers seeking active registrar synchronization or automated renewal workflows should consider a different product. DOMINUS is a strong choice for open-source domain research and portfolio analytics, but less suitable for teams that want registrar automation as a central part of domain operations.
