Our verdict on Data Maestro
Data Maestro is a local test data management application for QA engineers, backend and frontend teams, compliance teams, solo developers, agencies, and data scientists. It generates synthetic data across more than 75 field types, detects and anonymizes PII, seeds databases, and serves generated data through a local REST mock API. Its headless CLI also supports scripted and CI/CD workflows, making it suitable for teams that want test-data operations to run locally or as part of automation.
Pricing is structured around a useful free entry point and several Pro and Team options. The Free plan allows up to 100 rows per export or database push, two saved database connections, 75+ field types, 30+ export formats, and file PII anonymization up to 100 rows. Pro costs $15 per user per month or $149 per user per year and adds unlimited rows and database pushes, unlimited saved connections, full Mock API server hosting, unlimited-row and live-database PII anonymization, and priority email support. The $349 Lifetime plan includes Pro features, future field types, formats, and connectors, with no renewals. Team plans use the same monthly and annual prices per seat and add centralized licensing, team support, and volume pricing for 10+ seats.
Its ecosystem fit is broad for a locally run tool: supported connections include PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite, MSSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Neo4j, Cassandra, Scylla, InfluxDB, Elasticsearch, ClickHouse, Firebase, and CouchDB, plus Webhook HTTP POST. Imports cover CSV, TSV, JSON, Excel, database schemas, and OpenAPI, while exports include SQL, Parquet, Avro, and JSONL. AES-256-GCM encrypted project files and local execution support teams keeping workflows close to their environments. Choose Data Maestro for generation, masking, seeding, and mock APIs with controlled local execution; teams needing a primarily hosted desktop experience or locally built Docker deployment may prefer another operating model.
