Data Dynamics StorageX review
A broad migration platform for controlled file, object, permission, and cutover workflows.

Data Dynamics StorageX is enterprise software for migrating, replicating, consolidating, and managing unstructured data across heterogeneous file-storage and cloud environments. It is designed for organizations handling large data-center transitions, cloud migrations, NAS modernization, storage optimization, and hybrid-cloud environments. StorageX supports file-to-file, file-to-object, and object-to-object workflows, with CIFS and NFS migration support across Windows and Linux environments.
Its strongest differentiator is policy-driven control over complex migration stages. Teams can run baseline and incremental copies, preserve or map permissions and file attributes, manage and update DFS namespaces, coordinate programmatic cutover workflows, and control transfer rates with bandwidth throttling. Migration progress and completion reporting provide operational visibility. The integration breadth covers Azure, Microsoft OneDrive, Google Cloud Platform, AWS S3, Hitachi Content Platform, NetApp StorageGRID, Dell Elastic Cloud Storage, IBM Cloud Object Storage, Microsoft DFS, and Microsoft SQL Server, along with S3-compatible object storage.
StorageX uses contact-sales pricing, so buyers should plan for a sales-led evaluation rather than a self-serve purchase. Its breadth makes it a strong fit for teams coordinating policy-driven migrations across multiple file and object systems, especially where access preservation, metadata handling, staged copies, and cutover orchestration matter. Organizations with a narrow, single-environment move or a preference for open-source software may find its enterprise-oriented scope less suitable. Choose StorageX when migration governance and heterogeneous storage support are priorities; look elsewhere when the requirement is a simple, independently priced transfer utility.
