Our verdict on Cppcheck
Cppcheck is a static analysis tool for C and C++ code, aimed at developers and teams working on general code quality, embedded software, and safety- or security-critical applications. It examines source code for undefined behavior, dangerous coding constructs, coding-style issues, memory-management problems, and other defects. An open-source edition is free to download and use, while commercial editions add support, standards coverage, and compliance reporting for professional development teams.
The published plans separate individual use from team and enterprise requirements. The Individual plan includes the free open-source edition, with premium individual licensing available by quotation. The Project plan includes one Git repository with submodules, CI/CD integration, and a three-week free trial, but requires a minimum of 5 users for safety and security-critical applications. Enterprise adds unlimited projects and repositories, air-gapped environment support, CI/CD integration, and onboarding and configuration support, with pricing by quotation.
