Our verdict on Coveralls
Coveralls is a web-based code coverage service for software teams and open-source projects. It receives coverage reports from continuous-integration workflows, stores build history, and presents repository, file, and line-level statistics. Pull-request comments, commit status checks, configurable coverage thresholds, badges, notifications, APIs, and parallel-build coverage merging make it suited to teams that want coverage visibility tied to everyday development workflows. It supports line and branch coverage across languages including .NET, C/C++, Go, Java, JavaScript, Kotlin, PHP, Python, Ruby, Scala, Swift, and others.
The published plans cover both smaller teams and larger organizations. Public and open-source repositories can use the cloud service for free. Paid monthly plans start with Starter at $10 for 1 private repository and unlimited users, followed by Org at $50 for 10 repositories, Org+ at $100 for 20, Pro at $200 for 40, and Unlimited at $400 for unlimited private repositories. Cloud Premium costs $800 monthly and adds premium support, custom SLA terms, and multi-organization billing. Enterprise Cloud is $35 per user per month, while Enterprise On-Prem is $25 per user per month; both include unlimited organizations, repositories, and users, guaranteed performance, and premium support, with infrastructure handled according to the selected deployment model. Yearly billing receives a 10% discount.
Its ecosystem is a major strength for teams with varied repositories and CI environments. Integrations include GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Jenkins, GitLab CI, Buildkite, and other listed systems, while Slack, email, and webhooks support notifications. Coverage reports can use formats such as LCOV, Cobertura, JaCoCo, Gcov, and Coveralls JSON. Teams can also use the API or deploy Enterprise On-Prem on customer infrastructure. Coveralls is a strong fit for mature, multi-language coverage reporting; teams seeking only a narrow local coverage utility, or wanting private repositories without a paid plan, should consider alternatives.
